MIFA Meals on Wheels Volunteer Training Certification
The following training resources will introduce you to the MIFA Meals on Wheels program and provide an overview of what you can expect on your route. Please review the training slideshow and volunteer handbook before you deliver meals.
We also ask that all new volunteers complete an application two working days before volunteering to allow our staff time to complete the background checks required to ensure the safety and security of our clients. Thank you for your cooperation.

Frequently asked questions
How do people qualify for meals? In order to be eligible for MIFA Meals on Wheels, clients must be nutritionally at-risk seniors (over age 60) or disabled and reside in Shelby County. Eligibility is based on nutritional and functional need, not income, though preference is given to low-income applicants.
What if I want to bring a friend? We welcome and encourage your friends and guests to ride along with you on a meals delivery! However, for client safety as well as liability and funder compliance, all guests must complete a volunteer application form in advance. Please have your guest complete the required application form no less than two working days prior to their ride-along. The form is available here.
