Become a MIFA Volunteer
Volunteers provide essential support for MIFA’s programs and clients. Join us through one of the following opportunities.
Deliver Meals on Wheels
Meal delivery is a great opportunity for individuals, teams, congregations, and groups. You can deliver once or schedule a recurring route. Your deliveries provide vital social connections for our seniors, and this beloved volunteer opportunity will brighten your day too. Learn more.
Become a MIphone Buddy
Volunteer from anywhere! Check in on your neighbors as a MIphone Buddy. Volunteers provide a friendly phone call to areas seniors who are homebound or isolated. For some of our clients, MIFA staff and volunteers provide their only contact in a day; you can help a senior feel more secure and connected. Learn more.
Become a Volunteer Ombudsman Representative
Advocate for the rights of thousands of residents living in nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, and residential care homes in Shelby, Fayette, Tipton, and Lauderdale counties. Trained volunteers pay regular visits to these facilities, where they spend time with residents, monitor conditions, investigate complaints, and protect residents' rights. Learn more.
Collect senior gift bags
MIFA collects senior gift bags to deliver to Meals on Wheels clients on their birthdays and with holiday meals. If you would like to host a collection project at your workplace or church, or just put together a bag or two, we would be grateful for your contribution! Learn more.
Be a MIFA rep for MICAH
You can help carry on the legacy of MIFA’s founders by volunteering as a MIFA representative with MICAH, the Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope. MICAH is committed to uniting the community by convening and empowering a diverse coalition of community advocates who cultivate relationships that hold decision makers accountable for a more just and equitable Memphis. As a MICAH partner, MIFA extends its mission of serving the most vulnerable as advocates for change.
Other ways to serve
MIFA can use your unique skillset to support our programs in other ways! We need computer-savvy individuals for data entry, creative minds to assist with special projects, task-oriented people to pack shelf-stable meals, and more! These opportunities are available throughout the year—connect with our team about how you can get involved.
